Email Marketing and Deliverability Specialist

The Oxford Club is looking for an Email Marketing and Deliverability Specialist to join their team of professionals dedicated to the operational and technical systems integral to their company’s successful lead-gen, direct response marketing and promotional efforts.


This is a highly specialized position that will be responsible for maintaining proper list hygiene through a continual process of cleaning and validation, list segmentation and an ongoing discipline for measurement and reporting. In this role, this person will proactively put industry best-practices and measures in place to ensure maximum inbox placement on daily and weekly email communications for multiple business units. He/she will also be responsible for continually identifying and remediating deliverability risks and issues as they arise.

This person will work directly with our internal marketing, design and editorial teams to plan and coordinate marketing promotions, and act as a liaison between departments.


  • Provides strategic guidance and recommendations to internal stakeholders on the best way to improve email deliverability and recipient engagement, optimize program performance, and leverage industry best practices.
  • Monitor delivery, inbox placement and engagement metrics on all lists and mailings.
  • Establish ongoing segmentation and delivery tactics that will improve inbox placement and IP reputation for several individual business units and across multiple lists.
  • Cultivate a healthy working relationship between the stakeholders within the Marketing and Editorial teams who produce content and acquire customer email addresses, as well as with the ISPs and a centralized technology team.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Oxford Club’s business model, acquisition strategy, and email marketing strategy.
  • Field deliverability and email engagement strategy questions/requests from across the business and mitigate issues.
  • Become proficient in multiple email deliverability tools, products, and services.
  • Work closely and in alignment with both internal business units and a centralized technology team.
  • Be proactive in gaining knowledge of new industry trends, emerging technology, ISP treatment of commercial email, industry groups, and recipient behavior.


  • Five plus years’ experience in the email industry required.
  • Previous experience working in in direct response marketing is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience with email marketing best practices and experience sending large email volumes.
  • Knowledge of mail servers and a prior knowledge of ISP procedures (feedback loops, postmaster pages, etc.).
  • Solid understanding and familiarity with all email deliverability terminology.
  • Prior experience using 3rd party tools such as 250ok, Return Path, Postmastery, etc.
  • Experience with BI/Measurement tools Ex: Thoughtspot, Qlik, Google Analytics, etc. 
  • Knowledge of the email marketing industry – ESP’s, ISP’s, email marketing best practices, email content’s impact on deliverability, data hygiene, underlying technology/protocols used to send email (SMTP, TCP/IP).
  • Understanding of DNS, SPF, DKIM and DMARC.
  • Understanding of tools available on the ISPs' postmaster pages.
  • Prior experience resolving and remediating blacklist listings and spam traps.
  • Familiarity of email industry regulations - CAN SPAM, CASL, EU Directives.
  • Experience and comfort with SQL and basic Linux commands is highly desired.
  • Previous experience building segments in an email marketing system preferred.
  • Self-directed and motivated, with a passion for troubleshooting complex problems.
  • Business analysis and/or marketing background preferred.
